This cake smash session was kind of bitter sweet because it was the last session to round out the year of 2020. When Ahjahana contacted me she sent me an inspiration photo of what she wanted her babies session to look like and I got to work. It’s so important to book your sessions at least one month to two months from the event date. This gives your photographer time to purchase props if needed, edit your session, and deliver your gallery in enough time. Ahjahana booked right on time.
Cake smash sessions are one of my favorite sessions because you get a beautifully customized set and genuine emotions from the babies. Little Miss A’mia gave me so many facial expressions from smiles, surprised faces, and even tears. She did amazing during the portrait part of the session and the splash portion but bringing her smash cake into the mix was a no-no haha. Most babies don’t like the texture of the frosting so upon booking your cake smash session you will receive a prep guide from me that mentions allowing your baby to play in some frosting about a week before their session so that they aren’t freaked out by the cake. Sometimes this method works and sometimes they just don’t want anything to do with that cake. Nevertheless mom loved the pictures of her baby girl and I enjoyed singing and capturing her first birthday photos.
